So the main starting point in Armenia is Yerevan in most cases. The only railway communication exists with Georgia. You can get to Armenia also by car entering Armenia either from Georgia through the Bagratashen border crossing point or from Iran through Meghri border crossing point. Other neighbors like Turkey and Azerbaijan does not have any diplomatic relations with
Armenia.
There are two airports in Armenia: “Zvartnots” in Yerevan and “Shirak” in Gyumri. Almost all International flights originate at Zvartnots Airport, which is located in 15 kilometers from Yerevan on the Echmiadzin Highway. You can get to/from the airport by bus #108 or by taxi. In 2001 the airport was leased to the Argentinean Company “Aeropuertos Argentina 2000” for 30 years.
In 2007 a new international terminal was opened.
In 2008 the total number of passengers grew to 1.48 million.
At the moment, the airport has become more comfortable and modern and meets all European requirements.
In 2011 another terminal is going to be built, housing passenger check-in counters and customs control and the new underground parking for more than 800 cars is being constructed. After renovations the airport will be able to house up to 3 million passengers.
